Abstract

AIM’s IV Annual Conference took place between May 15 and 17, 2004. UBI – University of Beira Interior –, in Covilhã, welcomed the event that, already in its fourth edition, is a major reference in Portugal for Portuguese and international researchers interested in cinema and the audio-visual (in all its iterations), as well as in their interrelation with varied areas of scientific research.

Wiliam Pianco, Universidade do Algarve, Faculdade de Ciências Humanas e Sociais, Centro de Investigação em Artes e Comunicação, 8005-139, Faro.
PhD student in Communication, Culture and Arts by Research Centre for Arts and Communication – CIAC, University of Algarve; He is scholarship by the Coordination of Enhancement of Higher Education Staff – CAPES (Brasil); currently, he has investigated Portuguese cinema, with emphasis in the Manoel de Oliveira's filmography; he’s the author of several articles and papers in specialized vehicles and congress of area.

Jorge Palinhos is an academic researcher and professor, coeditor of the Drama journal and member of the Scientific Commitee of the Persona journal. He has been doing research on the áreas of Drama and Cultural Studies, Space and Performance and Narrative Studies. He has also worked as a playwright and dramaturg.

Laís Passos Lara is an undergraduate student in Cultural Production at Fluminense Federal University in Rio de Janeiro. She is Researcher in a Scientific Initiation in cinema in portuguese, also she is a cultural productor at Proprieta's Network.  Moreover, she has researched in the audiovisual field. She researched the significance of the body through an artistic and philosophical perspective, and patrimony.
