Section policies
Aniki is organized in four sections, each headed by an editor, who is responsible for implementing the section’s policies.
(1) Essays: This section accepts submissions between 6.000 and 8.000 words (not including notes and bibliographic references) on the areas and topics described in the journal’s Aims and Scope. Submissions must include: a title (in English and Portuguese); an abstract up to 300 words (in English and Portuguese); up to 5 keywords (in English and Portuguese). Selected essays undergo double-blind peer review; authors should, therefore, ensure their anonymity by removing their name from the submitted file in the properties section of the document. Essays should clearly identify a subject and corpus; discuss previous analysis of the same issues in a critical way; present an original perspective on the subject and the works under analysis; use theoretical concepts in a critical way; support arguments with detailed analyses; have a clear structure with an introduction and a conclusion; use coherent arguments and a clear and concise writing style. Please note: only complete texts will be accepted; only unpublished, original work will be considered; manuscripts should not be submitted to other journals while the submission to Aniki is under way; all the citation rules described in the Instructions for Authors and the guidelines described in Ensuring a Blind Peer Review should be followed; submissions with incomplete or incorrectly formatted bibliographic references may be refused.
The Essays section welcomes submissions on a rolling basis, but Aniki also launches regular open-call special sections guest edited by international experts. Manuscripts submitted to the special section undergo editorial screening by the guest-editors and double-blind peer review by external referees, in compliance with the journal’s ethics and peer-review procedures.
