Abstract

Review of the recently launched book "Sergio Leone: Cinema as Political Fable" (Christian Uva), which is part of a movement of critical revaluation of the Italian director, paying special attention to how complex, and often ambivalent, political ideas infiltrated films that seemed, at first sight, mere apolitical entertainment.

Rodrigo Carreiro is Professor of Post-Graduate Studies in Communication and Film Studies at the Federal University of Pernambuco, and professor of Film Sound in Bachelor of Film Studies at the same university, with a post-doctoral research developed at Fluminense Federal University. He holds a PhD and a MA in Social Communication (Film Studies) from UFPE, and a BA in Journalism from Catholic University of Pernambuco. Has a research funding grant from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPQ).
