About the Journal

Aniki: Portuguese Journal of the Moving Image accepts original manuscripts in Portuguese and English, and, under special circumstances (and pending on the editors’ previous agreement), also in Spanish and French, on the following topics: cinema; television; video; digital cultures; cinematic art; sound, music and the moving image; history and theory of the moving image, among others. Apart from research essays which have undergone double-blind peer review, the journal publishes interviews, book reviews, conference reports, critical reviews of art exhibitions and reports of international film festivals. 

Aniki was founded in May 2013 and is published twice a year (in January and in July). It is published by AIM (Portuguese Association of Researchers of the Moving Image) with the support of IHC (Institute of Contemporary History) of Nova-FCSH. Aniki has no submission or publication fees and provides immediate open access to its content.
