Submit your paper
You need to login or register to make a submission. Please note that Aniki screens papers for unoriginal material. By submitting your paper to Aniki you are agreeing to originality checks during the peer-review and production processes.
Before submitting your paper, please read the journal’s Aims and scope; Section policies; Review procedures; PEMS; Instructions for Authors; and Ensuring a Blind Peer Review.
Submission preparation checklist: As part of the submission process, authors are required to check their submission’s compliance with the following items. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be rejected.
1- The submission is original and is not being considered for publication elsewhere.
2- It is written in Portuguese or English. Submissions in Spanish and French have obtained the editors’ agreement.
3- The main document has page numbers and includes a title, an abstract and keywords in the two mandatory languages (Portuguese and English) and in the text’s other language (in case of Spanish and French).
4- The text is in Times New Roman, size 12, 1,5 space paragraph, justified alignment. Footnotes are marked by sequential Arabic numerals, in Times New Roman, size 10, single space paragraph, justified alignment. Please note that bibliographic references in footnotes should be avoided; when used, they should follow the author-date system of The Chicago Manual of Style.
5- All quotes must be marked by double quotation marks [“...”]; quotes within quotes must be marked by single quotation marks [‘...’]. Quotations over 3 lines long must be separated from the main text by a paragraph and a further 1,25cm indent, keeping the same formatting, but without quotation marks.
6- The document includes up to four images, inserted along the text (and not at the end). All images have numbered captions that follow this format: “Image 1: Caption content. | (c) Information about copyright.” No images will be published without caption or copyright mention.
7- Submission files are in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format (and are under 2MB). Images, tables and diagrams are inserted in the text or will be uploaded as supplementary documents in the next steps of the online submission process.
8- The title, abstract and keywords have been inserted in the metadata section of the online submission form and reproduce the same data included in the main document.
9- The author has followed the formatting and reference requirements described in the Instructions for Authors and the word limit defined in the Section Policies.
10- In case of submissions to a peer review section (essays or special section), the document has been anonymized, in keeping with the instructions given in Ensuring a Blind Peer Review.
11- Where available, the DOIs or URLs of the works have been provided in the reference list.
12- All the listed authors have actively contributed to the paper and their ORCIDs have been provided. Please note that no changes can be made to authorship after your paper is accepted.
13- The authors’ current affiliation (or the affiliation where the research was conducted) has been provided. If any of the named co-authors moves affiliation during the peer-review process, the new affiliation may be given as a footnote.
Aniki follows the author-date citation system of The Chicago Manual of Style, which uses abbreviated references in brackets in the main text and a complete reference list of the works cited or mentioned (and only these), at the end of the document. The Chicago Manual of Style can be consulted here.
For audiovisual items, both in-text or in a final filmography, Aniki follows the British Universities Film & Video Council guidelines, available here.
