Resumen

During The Nitrate Picture Show, nitrate prints were projected for an audience of archivists, scholars and cinephiles. This review will provide an account of the festival screenings, and will discuss the value of a festival of film conservation in the contemporary digital media landscape.

Sabrina Negri is a PhD student in the Department of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Chicago. Her main research focuses on issues of film archiving and preservation. She is a graduate of the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY, and worked as a film archivist at the Museo Nazionale del Cinema in Torino, Italy.
