Abstract

In this article, I investigate statements enunciated and images produced by Cláudio Assis, seeking to understand the conception that the filmmaker makes about his own cinema and the spectator he aims to reach. Assis’ combination in image of the need to discomfort and the need to satisfy the spectator indicates that the filmmaker understands the image as a materiality that should provoke symptom experiences in society.
