Abstract

The article presents an overview of the major film productions by Brazilian black women and how their works constitute the concept of Black cinema in the feminine. Reflects on the ideological character of gender and race and feminine process of black identity in filmmaking. It is observed that by producing and directing films, black women build cinema as a space of belonging and reference for history and black culture. Their works have enabled affective, political and geographical reading, building a cinema outside of stereotyping, unveiling new views of the world, in which the cinema is understood as a space of identities, demonstrations, expressions and citizenship. It appears that the movies produced by black women had established a settled territoriality in human development, creating and recreating worlds and possibilities of love and affection.
