Abstract

Pioneers of militant cinema in the 1970s, in Sweden, filmmakers Lars Safstrom and Luiz Alberto Sanz have recorded several interviews of Brazilians exiled in Europe during that period. The films they have co-directed are, today, important archives for the study of contemporary Brazilian documentary. After more than three decades without seeing each other, they met once more in Rio de Janeiro in late 2014. In that interview with Anita Leandro, they discussed the production and distribution structure they created in Sweden and the political commitment of their films to the issues of history and memory.
